Welcome to Tåsjödalen

The changing faces of nature

Discover the eight seasons of Tåsjö Valley

Tåsjödalen is located in Strömsund municipality, which is a Sami administrative municipality. In Tåsjödalen we experience nature through our seasons, inspired by the Sami seasonal calendar. Each time of year offers its own unique experiences and its own pace.

Spring winter (Gidádálvve)

A time when nature wakes up. The days brighten and lengthen, life gently awakens from its winter slumber. The dripping of icicles becomes tears of joy that burst in the warmth of the spring sun.

Spring (Gidá)

Now life crackles in every nook and cranny, the air is filled with the songs of birds, and the streams babble playfully, filled with meltwater. The ground awakens with buds and flowers peeking out curiously, attracted by the warming rays of the sun.

Early summer (Gidágiesse)

Nature, buttercups are blooming and wildlife has awakened. The ice is melting away in May.

Summer (Giesse)

The midnight sun is shining and nature offers fishing trips, berry picking and mountain or nature walks. A time for fishing and nature walks.

Late summer (Tjaktjagiesse)

Time to gather nature's harvest, pick mushrooms and enjoy the last warm days.

Spring (Tjaktja)

The leaves are changing in all their vibrant colors, nature is preparing for winter. It is time for hunting.

Pre-winter (Tjaktjadálvve)

The sun lowers its rays and the temperature drops. Nature is slowly falling asleep and black ice is creeping in.

Winter (Dálvve)

A time of darkness, cold and silence. The northern lights dance in the sky and the ground is covered in snow. Ice fishing and skiing are at their best during this period.
